|The Frog Princess
One of our most special projects ever.
The customer (and friend) had been through a lot in her life and came to us for a very special moment for herself. To be a princess for one day and go to Elfia (event that each year takes place in April in Haarzuilens) in her dress.
Due to circumstances it could not be a heavy dress so we had to take that into account when picking the fabrics. She wanted a fairytale dress and we were allowed to design her something. She chose the following theme; the Frog Princess.
We designed a dress made of silk organza, lace fabric and taffeta. A light blue taffeta basis with on top of that a transparent layer with curly embroidery, to serve as water; on the water is a waterlily represented by a layer of light green and pink fabric.
The ‘flower’ has pickup points, on which hand-made water lilies with pearls are applied. On the back we put a big bow that would do Disney justice.
We also made smaller water lilies to decorate the bodice. With the same pearls (pink, light green, white) like the ones we used on the dress we designed a bracelet and a necklace for this princess, with a depiction of her prince on her bracelet. The pendant on the necklace is a green heart which represents the frog and under the pendant a golden pearl, which represents the ball of the princess.
Next to that, we decorated her shoes with small bows, pearls and rhinestones. On top of that; a bag in the shape of a frog with of course a little crown, to be able to carry around a few things.
|Green Fairytale dress
This project turned out to be the start of a wonderful friendship. This special girl came to us with the request to make her a dress that would fit her like a glove; in the past she had dresses made for her before and the result had been a big disappointment every single time.
We were determined to show her that everyone can have a costume that fits, we designed for her a fantasy dress based on things she likes. Above all she wanted it to be unique.
We chose a daring changeant yellow with light blue taffeta, which resulted in a very special green fabric with both a yellow and blue glow. This we combined with a light blue taffeta for some details.
We also made a hair accessory to match the costume.
A very fun project that ended up in a lovely friendship.
|Ravenprinses ball gown
Another special project. This woman asked us to design her a dress for a character from her own stories, isn’t that special? She gave us some information about the character called Vara Raven and wanted some influences in the dress from Disney’s Belle gown and Sisi dresses.
We dove into a design and came up with the colours dark blue and black. It had to be a tough looking costume because the character description left no room for cuteness and pink.
Thus we designed a wide skirt like Belle’s ball gown with a bodice inspired by Sisi; this you can find back in the neckline and the pattern parts. Instead of sleeves that are common with this kind of dresses, we decided to use skai leather strips over poofy sleeves and pointy lower sleeves, combined with black lace.
Two ravens are applied to the front of the bodice. The neckline is decorated with black lace with silver chain; soft and tough at the same time.
We also designed a very long train with beautiful blue with black lace in the hem and skai leather ravens on the top.
The raven comes back at the front of the skirt; pointy pattern parts like feathers decorate the skirt in various colours of black and blue fabric wich is sometimes layered with lace fabric and trimmed with lace.
Finally a very special addition; a pluche bag in the shape of a raven, for carrying little items to an event like for example Elfia.
